Telehealth for Disabled Patients

NOMINATED TOPIC | November 21, 2023

1. What is the decision or change (e.g., clinical topic, practice guideline, system design, delivery of care) you are facing or struggling with where a summary of the evidence would be helpful?

I had a Telehealth appointment that I was not prepared for by the hospital or the examiner and I have a hearing loss in both ears. I was not wearing any hearing aids because I was moving from one city to another.

I informed the examiner that I had difficulty hearing her and I did not learn until after the 45-minute exam that she had excluded 90% of the information needed to be ascertained.

2. Why are you struggling with this issue?

This is or was an ADA violation and Privacy Act and HIPAA violation. I have had to file charges against both the hospital and the examiner.

The disabled in this country are still ignored and discriminated against and at a senior citizen age, I have too many times had to put up with unfairness.

3. What do you want to see changed? How will you know that your issue is improving or has been addressed?

People need to be asked if they have simple disabilities first and tested for the research.

4. When do you need the evidence report?

Mon, 01/01/2024

5. What will you do with the evidence report?

Provide it to the HHS, VA and DOJ.
