Suchitra Iyer, Ph.D.

Suchitra "Suchi" Iyer (pronounced "EYE-er") is the Director of the Technology Assessment Program in the Evidence-based Practice Center (EPC) Division, and supports the conduct of systematic reviews of clinical and other healthcare-related interventions in the EPC Division at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). She collaborates with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the National Institutes of Health, the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, and other partners to foster evidence-based decision making for clinical practice guidelines, research agendas, and coverage decisions. She helps lead the development of emerging methods aimed at maintaining rigor and improving the efficiency of the systematic review process, such as living reviews and supplementation of systematic reviews with real-world data.

Dr. Iyer completed a postdoctoral fellowship at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and she received her doctoral degree in neuroscience from the University of Maryland in College Park. Prior to joining AHRQ in 2010, she worked as a medical research analyst with Hayes Inc., conducting technology assessments to inform managed-care–related decisions.
