Drug Therapy for Rheumatoid Arthritis in Adults
Outline of Material
This presentation is based on a comparative effectiveness review of the clinical study literature concerning the use of DMARDs in treating rheumatoid arthritis in adults. It includes an introduction to drug treatment and disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs); systematic review methods; the clinical questions addressed by the comparative effectiveness review; modes of statistical analysis and results reporting in the comparative effectiveness review; results of studies and evidence-based conclusions about the effectiveness and adverse effects of DMARDs; gaps in knowledge; and suggestions of what to discuss with patients and their caregivers.
