Adjunctive Devices for Patients With Acute Coronary Syndromes Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
Explanation of Distal Filter Embolic Protection Devices Included in the CER
Distal filter embolic protection devices employ an occlusion filter advanced over a guidewire distal to the thrombus in order to capture and retrieve thrombotic debris released during angioplasty and stenting procedures. Distal filter embolic protection devices studied in the CER included: FilterWire EXTM, FilterWire EZTM, SpideRXTM, AngioGuardTM, AngioGuardTM XP, and Filtrap.
