Traumatic Brain Injury and Depression

Slide: 21 of 25

Conclusions (1 of 2)

Patients with a history of TBI are at an increased risk for depression. Increased prevalence of depression is observed at multiple time points after injury, ranging from early to late. Because the risk of depression after TBI remains high over an extended period, continued screening over time may be warranted. There is a general lack of studies that make explicit comparisons of these concerns and are designed to specifically address issues related to screening for TBI after depression.
