Adjunctive Devices for Patients With Acute Coronary Syndromes Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
Comparative Effectiveness of Adjunctive Embolic Protection Devices Versus PCI Alone in Patients With ACS
Thirty-seven unique RCTs evaluated the impact of thrombectomy or embolic protection devices versus a control on final, intermediate, or adverse health outcomes when used as an adjunct to PCI and compared with PCI alone in patients with STEMI. Of the 37 trials, 5 (n = 962) evaluated the impact of distal filter embolic protection devices, 9 trials (n = 1,479) evaluated the impact of distal balloon embolic protection devices, and 1 (n = 284) evaluated the impact of proximal balloon embolic protection devices.
