Key Question 1: – Clinical Bottom Line: Harms Associated With Medical Interventions

Aripiprazole and risperidone are associated with significant weight gain, sedation, and extrapyramidal effects that may limit their use to patients with severe impairment or with risk of injury (strength of evidence: high). Other than for aripiprazole and risperidone, there was insufficient evidence to estimate the severity and frequency of potential adverse events associated with any interventions, including serotonin-reuptake inhibitors and stimulants (strength of evidence: insufficient).
