Effectiveness of Anesthesia on Acute Pain: Trials, Results, Conclusions
The comparative effectiveness for relief of acute pain by spinal and epidural anesthesia with or without adding opioids to the injection was examined in three studies, but the data are insufficient to estimate the effects. Modes of administration and differing doses were not assessed for effect on pain.
