Pain Management Interventions for Hip Fracture

Slide: 10 of 46

Clinical Questions Addressed by the CER (1)

The CER reports findings synthesized from studies of pain management interventions for controlling acute and chronic pain due to hip fracture. The studies under review were restricted to those examining patient populations who were at least 50 years old and had nonpathological hip fractures resulting from low-impact injury. All interventions were examined in the context of usual care for pain (e.g., NSAIDs and opioids). The effect of interventions on important outcomes other than pain, such as mortality rates and mental status, were examined up to 1 year postfracture.
