Traumatic Brain Injury and Depression
We do not know the extent to which depression contributes to long-term disability following traumatic brain injury (TBI). Depression is one of several potential psychiatric illnesses that may occur after TBI. Clinicians, caregivers, and patients lack formal evidence to guide the timing of screening, selection of tools for screening and assessment, choice of treatment, and assessment of treatment success.
