Comparative Effectiveness and Safety of Radiotherapy Treatments for Head and Neck Cancer
Clinical Bottom Line: Comparative Evidence for Proton Beam versus 2DRT, 3DRT, and IMRT
This slide summarizes the evidence, regarding comparisons of proton beam therapy to 2DRT, 3DCRT, and IMRT, reported in the comparative effectiveness review (CER) titled Comparative Effectiveness and Safety of Radiotherapy Treatments for Head and Neck Cancer. The next several slides (25–34) will discuss these data in greater detail. Since no studies compared the domains of tumor control, survival, adverse effects, quality of life, or experience of the treatment team between proton beam therapy and the other external-beam radiation therapy modalities considered in the report, no conclusions could be drawn about their comparative effectiveness and safety.
